The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, has started the consultations
with the Parliamentary Group leaders for filling the two vacancies at
the Supreme Court.
There is no official announcement for the stance of both parties in these talks. The only one who communicated with the media was the head of the opposition’s parliamentary group, Edi Paloka. Besides valuing the constitutional path followed by the President, Mr.Paloka accused Prime Minister Edi Rama for his behavior against the judiciary.
“Edi Rama raises his voice all day about the problems of the Albanian justice, which has problems, but he aims to take it under control, like the one he had before, when he was appointing as Presidents of court former Ministers of the Socialist Party. This will not happen. Rama will not take this castle, because that would be the end of justice and democracy”, Paloka declared.
The head of the parliamentary groups of the majority, Gramoz Ruci and Petrit Vasili, did not communicate any stance for the talks at the President.
Besides the reconfirmation of Bashkim Dede as President of the Constitutional Court, the majority has rejected any other decree of the President as regards the judiciary, considering his consultations about the formal criteria as insufficient. The Socialist Movement for Integration is expected to reconfirm this stance on Tuesday, through an open letter for the President.
