The US State Secretary, John Kerry, sent a message to Albania for the National Day of Youth.
“On behalf of President Obama and the people of the USA, I give you the most sincere wishes for all Albanians on the National Day of Youth, on the 25th anniversary of the student movement that brought the fall of communism on December 8th”, Kerry said in his message.
This historic transition, he says, is supported by the leaders of the student movement. It is reinforced by citizens who marched and demonstrated against the dictatorship and received help from former courageous members of the party, who helped reestablishing the people’s will.
“We recognize the progress of Albania in these 25 years. Albania is a NATO ally today and contributes for peace and national security”, said the Chief of the US Diplomacy.
He said that Albania is on the path of a full Euro-Atlantic integration, making the reforms necessary to reinforce its democratic institutions for developing a competitive economy in a free market.
“The USA appreciate the warm friendship with the Albanian people and government, and see their future in strengthening this partnership”, Kerry added.
