The former Albanian Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla, is the first person whose ban from the USA has been announced publicly by the US Department of State.
This fact comes from a correspondence between Top Channel and the US State Department. It shows that State Secretary undertook this unusual step based on the right to ban people involved in huge corruption cases.
The official response from the US State Department: “Section 7031(c) includes a provision that requires the State Department to publicly or privately designate the individual. This authority has been in effect since 2008 and this is the first public designation of an individual designated under Section 7031(c)”, the response says.
Many individuals may have been banned since 2008, but no one has been announced publicly. And Llalla wasn’t alone. The decision included Ardjana Llalla, his wife; his daughter Eni Llalla and his other child.
