US State Department report, critical about Balkan

The US State Department published this Monday the report for human
rights, which states that most of the Balkan countries don’t fulfill the
minimal standards to face this illegal phenomenon, except for
Macedonia.

According to the US State Department, the weak identification systems make finding solutions even more difficult.

Despite significant progress, the report says that one former convict is today member of the Albanian Parliament. This was underlined even in a declaration of the US Embassy this Tuesday.

The report sees as a problem with the soft punishments of the Albanian judiciary, which, in most of the cases, sentences the suspect for prostitution and not for human traffic.

As for Kosovo, the US State Department recognizes the fight against traffickers, but underlines that despite their number, the punishments are very low.

Almost the same situation is described for every other country of the region.
