US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried walked to the Prime Minister’s Office today along the “Deshmoret e Kombit” Boulevard.
Accompanied by the department’s special envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Eskobar and Ambassador Yuri Kim, she walked the same path from where tomorrow the delegates of the DP National Assembly will address the palace of congresses, to advance the taking of the helm of the DP opposition from Sali Berisha who was declared ‘Non Grata’ by the USA.
Two servicemen were also part of the American delegation, which suggests that in this meeting with Rama, security issues were also discussed.
The Prime Minister spoke about the topics of conversation in a post: “We discussed the positive progress of reforms, strengthening of justice, strategic investments in energy, Bulgaria’s veto on Northern Macedonia, the situation in the region, as well as the full support that the United States gives to the Open Balkans.”
Karen Donfried’s visit to Tirana was preceded on Thursday by a statement by Prime Minister Rama on integration, from where he hoped that “the Americans would wake up their European partners in order to continue with the EU enlargement”.
