The US Embassy reacted after the Central Election Commission decided to remove the mandate of MP Aqif Rakipi, from the PJIU, and Gledion Rehovica, from the SMI, after a request made by the Prosecution General.
“The US Embassy welcomes today’s decision, which proves that the important decriminalization process, started in 2015, is still continuing in Albania”, says the US Embassy announcement.
The two MPs were not present at the Central Election Commission meeting, but they were represented respectively by their lawyers Theodhori Sollaku and Ardian Vishaj.
During tonight’s meeting, the Central Election Commission asked the Prosecution General additional information about the banning of the Pogradec Mayor, Eduart Kapri, from Germany.
