US diplomat speaks about border change between Kosovo and Serbia, Russia’s influence

The US diplomat, former US Ambassador in several countries of the region, Cristopher Hill, said that he wouldn’t be against a border change between Kosovo and Serbia, but said that such matters should be treated carefully, because they could produce log-term consequences.

Hill is attending the Southeastern European Peace Summit in Tirana. He spoke about the security in the Balkans, the Russian influence and the plans for creating a Balkan mini-Schengen.

Hill said that the security situation is stablem but more work should be done to improve it.

Hill said that he is disappointed with the fact that the EU accession negotiations were not open for Albania and Northern Macedonia.

As for the Balkan mini-Schengen, he expressed concerns about the Russian influence in the ara, but added that the future of the countries of the region is in the NATO and the EU.
