US Congressman Peter Roskam said for Washington Examiner that Kosovo will be in the focus of the US lawmaker.

“Kosovo is facing many challenges which are being exploited by Serbia. Supported by Russia, Serbia is putting in danger the stability of Kosovo”, he said.

Peter Roskam, a republican who chairs the Democratic Partnership Committee at the Congress has recently visited Kosovo, Georgia and Sri Lanka, three countries where Russia and China challenge the new Trump administration.

The Democratic Partnership Committee is a bipartisan group, made of four members, two republicans and two democrats.

When asked by Washington Examiner about the visit in Kosovo, Roskam underlined that Serbia is putting stability in danger in Kosovo.

“Kosovo is facing many challenges. It is under EU pressure for the visa liberalization, having Demarkation with Montenegro as a condition. The opposition even launched tear gas in Parliament against this decision. Serbia has taken advantage of all of this, through great support from Russia but even from the EU. This gave Serbia a position to be very provocative with Kosovo, by even putting its stability in danger. Kosovo is a moderated Muslim country, very small, with a population of just 1.8 million”, the Republican congressman said.

He added that Kosovo has changed its laws to block a few of its Muslim devotees from joining ISIS, turning this way into a model country with which America has good relations”, the Republican Congressman said.
