US assists Albania with port security

The USA is assisting Albania for improving the monitoring capacities at the Durres Port.
Alab Bersin, Assistant Secretary for International Matters at the Department of Security, accompanied by the Minister of Transportation, Sokol Dervishaj, took a closer look to the security systems, many of which were brought by US authorities.
Minister Dervishaj said that security in ports is improving, and law enforcing agencies need to coordinate their work. Border police and customs have a direct responsibility on the administration of entrance points.
Mr.Bersin praised the TIMS information system and offered US experience to further Assist Albania’s government to improve security elements.
