US archaeologists investigations show Albania didn’t cause Corfu Incident

A US expedition, led by James Good, has the same opinion as other archaeology experts of the Albanian archaeology, who say that Albania had no blame for the Corfu Canal incident.

James Good is submarine archaeology scholar, known for the legal battle on the fate of the Spanish ship, Merdez, which was uncovered full of treasury of the Spanish crown.

“The remains of the ship were not found in the middle of the Corfu Canal. Point A is where officials say the British fleet was, and point B is the place where we found the remains. You cannot go there by chance. It is a canal that forces you to go there. It can be achieved by making provocative movements. We think that the movement has been intentional to get closer to the Albanian border and threaten Albania”, Good said.

But history cannot be undone. Albania was found guilty for this incident. How much can this discovery be worth to change the history?

“That’s why we are pushing to this issue, because Albania cannot open the court in Hague, but morally, Albania needs to win this battle for the next generations and understand that despite the historic context of the time, Albania didn’t mine the international traffic, but it was a provocation from Greatn Britain, which caused the Corfu Canal incident”, said Auron Tare, Director of the National Coastline Agency.
