The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Ann Jacobson, appealed the political
parties to accept the invitation of President Atifete Jahaga for talks.
The US diplomat showed signs that she has lost her patience with the ongoing political crisis. She insinuated that the international community has lost the interest and are tired with the blockage.
“No one will be able to take everything they want. Everyone will be forced to give something up. But this cannot be resolved without communication between the parties. We have the VLAN that wants to form the government, the PDK that wants the Parliament Speaker and the first mandate… The fact that they do not talk with each other is not helping at all. I encourage everyone to accept the President’s invitation and start talking for progress”, Jacobson declared.
The US Ambassador is against protests for resolving crises.
“I don’t know how the agreement will work, but taking people on the street is just a political trick that takes you nowhere”, Jacobson declared.
As for corruption, Jacobson blamed everyone.
“We hear politicians pointing at each other and accusing of corruption. I think there is enough evidence that corruption is present in the entire political spectrum. There are people who are involved in corruptive parties. You cannot blame one single party for this. Let’s see the members of the new block. The Head of “Nisma” is being investigated for corruption in two cases. The Self-Determination Movement has filed 70 reports of accusation against the LDK in the Prishtina commune. High-rank AAK officials have also been sentenced for ransom. You cannot blame one party or one person for as long that this goes on”, Jacobson said.
The US Ambassador gave a strong message for the Kosovo leaders, who have blocked the government for the past five months.
“My message to the politicians is very clear. I can say it in Albanian too: “Mos e dhi punen”, Jacobson added. The US ambassador also was very direct against early elections, saying that they cannot bring a solution.
