US Ambassador reacts after former Prosecutor General Llalla left the system

The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, reacted after former Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla withdrew from the judiciary.

“The decision is individual, but the removal of a corrupted judge or prosecutor is a victory in the battle for a better judiciary. It’s very good for Albania that they will be unable to return to the system for at least 15 years”, declared the US Ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu.

The Ambassador also spoke in a more general way about judiciary members who leave the system.

“The decision to leave the system doesn’t relieve them from possible criminal responsibilities for corruption and power abuse. Those who fear the vetting law should fear the unavoidable criminal investigations”, Lu added.
