The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, present in the symposium against
corruption that was held in Tirana today, declared that “vetting” is the
best way to fight corruption.

“Corruption will not be fought by foreigners, but by courageous journalists. The fight starts with the Vetting. A new independent system is need, with judges that cannot be manipulated. We are grateful to the Venice Commission for the smart advises. All Albanian political forces need to support the advises of this commission. I trust the wisdom of the Albanian people. They are smart and tired of corruption”, Ambassador Lu declared.

President Bujar Nishani said that corruption can be fought with efficiency, if there is enough good will.

“We all know corruption problems. Simple citizens, farmers and students know corruption too. I don’t have such dreams as making corruption disappear, since it is tied to the human nature, but it could be fought with efficiency. You need good will to fight it”, the President said.
