“Hello everyone. This is Don and I’m glad we could have a conversation
about corruption. You may not believe this, but I have lots of hope that
things are changing with corruption in Albania. People in Albania are
fed up and want to see change — from the decriminalization of
parliament, to judicial reform, to political party financial
transparency to prevent vote buying”.
With this comment the ambassador started the session which comes one day after the strong declarations of the US Chief Diplomat at the National Judiciary Conference.
Lu says that people are tired and want to see changes in Parliament, the justice system and financial transparency of political parties. How will this change come? Lu says it will start with the new laws for decriminalization, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Reform, but the hard work will come with its implementation. Criminalized politicians must be removed by their leaders, and corrupted ministers from the present and the past should be held responsible for their crimes. Lu says the Albanian people must demand for this to take place.
