The US Ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu, congratulated the candidate of
the Democratic Party, Halim Kosova, for the positive campaign he managed
in Tirana.
“I wante dot send this note to compliment you on running a positive and issue-focused campaign for the mayor of Tirana. Our Embassy has, over the past several months, spoken frequently about corrupt and criminal politicians who are involved in vote buying, intimidation and the manipulation of democratic institutions.
By contrast, we saw that you were personally committed to a fair and open process. You talked about issues concerning the voters of Tirana. We think your campaign signals to the Albanian people that their political system is maturing.
We thank you for your commitment to improve this country. In particular, we appreciate your extraordinary work as Minister of Health. I look further to discussing these and other issues with you in the near future. ”
