The first message that the US Ambassador gave to Albania was in the Albanian language. And during his entire service term in Albania, he kept speaking more Albanian and very directly.
He has encouraged the judicial reform more than anyone else, and placed in the center of attention for several declarations addressed directly at the Albanian political class and our society.
He will be remembered for the phrase “big fish”, known in his direct declarations for the fight against organized crime and corruption, mentioning concrete names of the criminal world that should end up in front of justice.
During 2016, Lu and the EU Ambassador in Tirana were able to bring together the entire political class to vote amends that allowed the judicial reform. In 2017 they were both seen meeting with the opposition leaders inside their protest tent, on the hard mission to save the central elections by convincing the opposition to not boycott them.
Once again Donald Lu is bringing together the Albanian politics, but this time on Top Channel’s comedy show “Portokalli”, in which the US Ambassador was invited for a special appearance.
