US Ambassador: “Albanians deserve honest judiciary”

“We have spent four months speaking about corrupted judges and
prosecutors, and a system in which you have to pay for justice. Albania
has still much to do to clean its judiciary system. Five years ago a
criminal case in Korce or Kruja would need nine trial sessions before a
verdict was taken. Today are needed just three, thanks to the techniques
that were introduces for an active management of trials. This method is
serving justice quicker to the people. The Albanian people deserves a
honest, righteous and independent judiciary system”, Lu declared.

The
USAID project called “JUST” has used 10 million USD in five years to
increase transparency, impartiality and effectiveness in the Albanian
courts.
