US-Albania sign Strategic Partnership Declaration

“We feel honored to be here to sign together with Minister Bushati a Strategic Partnership Declaration between the US, which fulfills the commitment of Secretary Kerry and Prime Minister Rama made to each other during the NATO summit in Wales this September, to take our relation to further levels. As the Albanian expression says “good friends are seen in difficult times”, Albania has been a friend of the US in difficult and good times. Today we are taking this friendship further through this document”, Nuland declared.

The high-rank official valued the steps made by Albania towards the EU integration, an integration that Washington supports without reserves.

“The US are close to Albania, helping the reforming of the judiciary, by cooperating in the fight against corruption and organized crime, by helping and reinforcing the local government and the public administration, as I mentioned before, by increasing investments and by turning Albania into a bridge of the Energy market for Europe, especially in the Trans-Atlantic pipeline”, Nuland added.

Minister Bushati declared that the Strategic Partnership of Albania with the USA is a basic fact towards the consolidation o democracy and the economic development”.

“We are grateful to the US for the constant contribution in those areas regarding the reforms that we have undertaken, so that Albania can be accepted at the EU”, he said.

Albania wants to enlarge the cooperation with the US in all areas, not only in security and defense.

“We are focusing on the economy, energetic safety, human rights, science, education and many others. I am happy to confirm that by signing this document today, we raise our relation in higher levels”, Bushati declared.
