After two visits to Kosovo by Albanain President Bajram Begaj, the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani came today to visit Tirana.

After a face-to-face meeting between the two presidents and then with the respective staffs, President Bajram Begaj requested that Tirana-Pristina relations be guided by the national interest.

“The strategic character of relations between our two states is of inalienable importance and with a unique role for stability, security, sustainable development and the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the entire region”, Begaj stated.

At a time when the relationship between Edi Rama and Albin Kurti continues to be difficult, after the cancellation of the meeting of the two governments, President Vjosa Osmani from Tirana took a more moderate stance.

“We have an obligation to work together for the interests of all Albanians in the region, and in particular the ethinic Albanians whose values were constantly violated, even the most basic ones, in Presheva, Medvegja and Bujanofc. As long as Serbia’s state policy is constantly challenging Kosovo’s territorial integrity, we will need the support of Albania and its partners and Euro-Atlantic allies,” President Osmani said.

Osmani also stopped at the expected dialogue that will resume in Brussels between Pristina and Belgrade.

“The dialogue with Serbia is continuing, but the only way that brings long-term peace and stability to our region is mutual recognition and preservation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order and internal functionality of the Republic of Kosovo”, added the president.
