In a meeting held by the Ministry of Education with rectors of public and private universities in Albania, the University of Gjirokastra has insisted today on returning students to the auditorium, at least two weeks before the winter exam season.
Dep. rector Prof. Dr. Jaho Canaj said that no university undertakes to conduct online exams. The conditions and infrastructure for this process, according to him, are insufficient for students because most of them attend online lessons by phone, while students in rural areas where there is no internet cannot participate in exams.
If the ministry were to make a differentiated decision for the University of Gjirokastra, then it would bring back to the auditorium its 1625 students from 16 curricula.
Prof. Jaho Canaj, Vice Rector of the University “Eqerem Cabej” said: “We request at all costs to return to the auditorium because we do not undertake the conduct of online exams. We expect this solution to come as soon as possible in order to serve the consultations with the pedagogues. Our university has all the conditions for the implementation of the health protocol for Covid 19 and it does not make sense for school pupils to go to school and students not”.
