20.000 students started the new academic year for the first time. 4000
places are still empty, waiting to be added to the initial list.
The Minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla, listed the reasons why the previous scheme was changed, when 20% was based on the high-school grade average, and 70% from the final high-school graduation exam.
Minister Nikolla said that the new scheme is motre transparent, because now it is not the ministry that decides the students who are added to the first list of admission, but they are chosen by the system. This system, according to Nikolla, gives the right to study to everyone who deserves it.
The two-day phase is expected to continue until October 28th, while some universities have declared that they will continue to admit students until the quota are met.
Students need to be attentive to the “U Albanian” portal and wait for the green color tab of the major they have chosen, because after two days they lose the right of admission and it goes to the next student.
