Unions: Implement the work code

650 teachers of rural areas haven’t received the transportation
reimbursement in this end of the year. The Federation of Independent
Education Syndicates says that more than 1200 teachers have declared
that half of their monthly salary was kept, due to the decreased
teaching quota.

“There are 650 teachers in a national level who have reported and the transportation quota has not been reimbursed. We are talking about teachers who live far from their work. This quota reaches 8000 ALL per month iin some cases. To cover this payment, teachers are being given less teaching hours”, declared Ana Xheka, President of the Union.

While unionists demand that 36.000 teachers should receive the end of the year bonus, another problem is the way of distributing the education budget.

“Budget 2014 has nothing to do with the real needs of the education system. It deepens the inequality between the schools that the Minister of Education has chosen as priorities even for covering the need for computer boards. Because of the bad teaching conditions, we have not only the teaching process damaged, but also the students’ health”, Xheka declared.

Unionists demanded the Ministry to implement the work code and the teachers’ agreements.
