Union of Judges: “Vetting Law is anticonstitutional. Will request a repeal”
04/11/2016 00:00
The Union of Judges has decided that the Vetting law goes against the
Albanian Constitution. The law was part of the Justice Reform, and
serves to audit the wealth of judges and prosecutors.
The Union said they will ask the Constitutional Court to repeal the law.
The Vetting is currently in Venice, for a review, after the Constitutional Court accepted the request of the Democratic Party, which claims that the law goes against the Constitution and allows the government to control the new justice institutions.
The vetting allows phones, SMS and other communication of new justice institution to go under scrutiny, especially for the members of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption.
