While the Serbian President announced March 16th as the date of the new
early elections, the Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, had
invited for the first time in Tirana 12 representatives from the
Presheva Valley.
Representatives of the political forces, civil society and business were updated with the new stance of Tirana for a more active approach and for being closer to the concerns of the Albanians in the valley.
The representatives of the Presheva Valley declared that the the survival conditions in Presheva, the talks between Serbia and Kosovo and the increased attention from the Tirana government are opportunities that need to be exploited by the divided Albanians in the valley, so that they can come out with a coalition in the March 16th elections, and get represented with at least two Parliament Members at the new Parliament.
“March 16th is very soon, and we don’t have that much time. But I believe that in this situation, with the responsibilities that we have in this situation, in which we are facing existential problems, the Presheva political factor needs to be more responsible, and with the help from Tirana and Prishtina, we will have better results”, declared Riza Halimi, the Albanian Parliament Member at the Serbian Parliament.
“The cohesion of the Albanian political and social factor, articulated through an unifying platform of joint stances, is a vital interest for the Presheva Albanians”, Bushati declared in the meeting, a message that raises their awareness for unification.
“Certainly that we will take in consideration the increased attention from the Albania government. I believe that the entire Albanian politics will value it, by taking in consideration the appeals made by Tirana and especially Minister Bushati”, declared Ragmi Mustafa, from the Presheva Commune.
The Presheva Albanians are represented by only one Parliament Member at the Serbian Parliament, due to the big divisions between Albanians. The test for the concretization of their platform is March 16th.
