The Executive Council of Unesco in Paris is expected to decide this
Wednesday for Kosovo’s admission as member of this organization.

32 member countries out of 58 in total have already recognized Kosovo’s independence, while 20 others have supported Albania’s request to admit Kosovo in UNESCO.

The application was formally handed over by Albania and received support from 45 countries. If Kosovo receives most of the votes today, the admission will be realized in the session of the UNESCO General Assembly which is held from November 3rd to 18th.

The General Conference has representatives from 195 countries. Every member country has one vote, and the decision requires two thirds of the total.

The Kosovo authorities have sent written guarantees to UNESCO that no change will be made to the name of the properties owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is a constitutional category of Kosovo and the renaming of these monuments will change only after consulting them.
