The Ujman Lake, as it is known to Albanians, or the Gazivoda Lake, as known to Serbs, provides electricity for half of Kosovo.
The artificial lake is partly in Serbia, but mostly in Kosovo. Serbia has always tried to keep Kosovo’s part, despite the fact that high-level officials from the communist era have insisted that it had not been paid by Belgrade, but by Kosovo’s own budget.
Same sources say that even the expropriation of Serbian citizens in the area was paid by Kosovo’s budget.
This is a very valuable asset for Kosovo, as its electricity corporation would only function for eight hours without it.
Vucic’s visit in Kosovo was exactly at this lake, which made many Kosovo Albanians consider the move as a provocation.
