After UEFA published the decision of their Committee of Discipline to
penalize Albania, the Albanian Football Federation is even more certain
that it was unilateral.
The members of the Committee of Discipline have referred to the declaration of referee Martin Atkinson for penalizing the Albanian national team with a loss on the table.
Paragraph 21 of the decision says that the Albanian Football Federation didn’t bring enough evidence to remove their responsibility.
“Our evidence were not properly taken in consideration, and the reasoning of the Discipline troop was not logical. These issues will be addressed t the Committee of Appeal”, declared lawyer Envi Icka.
Paragraph 23 of this 11-page decision says that based on the facts and on the information of the match officials, the Commission of Discipline decided that the Albanian Football Federation is responsible for refusing to continue the match, and based on article 27 of the UEFA regulation it will be punished.
“Paragraph 27.1, for which we have been punished and that has been called “refused to play”, should not take in consideration only the refusal to play, but also who was the cause for not allowing the game to continue. I think that we will present all necessary arguments to show that the interruption of the game was a direct responsibility of the Serbian Federation, due to the security conditions. The entrance of fans in the pitch was the only reason why the match was interrupted. The referee’s report was accurate when it said that the players entered the dressing rooms for security reasons.
Top Channel has the declarations of all officials, starting from the referee, the delegate and security officcer. They have all detailed what happened on the pitch, even when Bala was hit with a chair by a fan.
While the referee underlined that the Albanian players refused to return and continue the match, the delegate of the match has written that captain Lorik Cana has declared that the players are unable to play due physical and psychological reasons. The delegate has never written that the Albanian players refused to enter the pitch. He said that at 22:10, Judge Atkinson decided that the match would not start. Even the UEFA officials have contradicted each other.
