Former Kruja judge Enkelejda Hoxha has been found guilty of corruption and abuse of office and sentenced to three years in prison.
Following the appeal, she will face up to two years in prison.
During the operation to arrest Enkelejda Hoxha, other persons involved were arrested in the corruption scheme, where the ‘strongmen’ captured by the police were released.
The Special Prosecution SPAK has requested four years in prison for the lawyer Aldo Tabaku, who intervened to change the decision and three years in prison for the Secretary of the Court, Manuela Mallkuçi.
Two years in prison were given to the convict Saimir Petani who demanded his release from prison in exchange for payment, and his brother Bledar Petani, who would give 12 thousand euros as bribe to former judge Hoxha.
Hoxha is known for her contested decisions where many convicts have been released from prison, including those sentenced to life, such as Endrit Dokle, Genc Tafili, or Hekuran Billa, the latter killed in Tirana. The judge released from prison Indrit Doklen, sentenced to life imprisonment, as a member of the Durrës gang, accused of several murders, injuries and other crimes.
