Albanian authorities announced today the successful rescue of the two Swiss tourists trapped since yesterday evening in Mount Korabi after a sudden avalanche.
The Ministry of Defense says that with the help of the international KFOR forces from neighboring Kosovo, the local police managed to pull the tourists from the location where they were trapped.
They were transported for medical assistance to the Trauma Hospital in the capital Tirana.
It is learned that their health condition is stable and their lives are out of danger.
Other sources announced that one of the tourists was injured with a broken leg and that they had managed to survive the extreme temperatures by improvising shelter in the snow.
The rescued were sent by helicopter to the hospital in Tirana.
