Two patients die and two other were injured after a fight in a private Tirana hospital.
The fire may have been caused intentionally by Lefter C, 57, after a conflict with D.Saraci, 47,
Lefter C has used a can of petrol and lit D.Saraci on fire. Nurses intervened on time to put the fire out of his body.
But two other patients being treated in the same room, Sanie Sulaj, 55, and Hani Mali, 55, have both died of asphyxia.
Police investigations are undergoing.
The Tirana private hospital “Spitali Amerikan”, where two women died today after one patient tried to kill another one with petrol, has reacted for the press, saying that all measures were taken within three minutes.
“Camera footage will show how the staff has taken outside all patients within three hours. When the police and firefighters arrived, the situation was taken under control by the staff that was present”.
“Such events cannot be predicted or prevented, since patients have the right to bring in personal objects. We cannot violate their rights by checking their personal bags. The patient brought a can that was supposed to have water inside, and we could not control it”, one doctor says.
