Turkish state-funded foundation buys Albania’s “New York University”
One of the best known private universities in Albania was bought this Friday by the Turkish state-funded foundation, Marif Vakef.
The foundation arrived a few times ago to Albania, to compete the schools controlled by Gulen.
The New York University was founded many years ago by one of Albania’s best-known politicians, the late Gramoz Pashko.
This purchase comes sometime after Turkey asked Albania to close the education institutions of Gulen, which removed Turkey’s flags. They promised that Turkish President Erdogan would take charge to replace them by other Turkish universities.
The foundation that bought New York University has replaced the Greek Administrator, Ilias Foutsis, with a Turkish one, Fatih Cankurt.
