An 18-meter long trawler sank this morning near the island of Sazan in Vlore in southwestern Albania. The boat named “Bashkimi” has been fishing 3 miles north of the island with three fishermen on board, its owner Flori Mezani along with 2 employees.
Initially, the people who were on board asked for help, after taking water on board.
The chief fisherman Mezani gave the emergency notice and the border police and the coast guard came to their aid.
They rescued the crew members and sent them to the Port of Vlora, in good health.
The vessel had gone out early today for fishing, and was hunting to the north of Sazan Island.
The ship had recently undergone a complete refit, its owner said.
