Dozens of Albanian have been rejected at the Durres border checkpoint by
the police. The increased number of asylum seekers has forced the
police to add more security measures.

The authorities want every citizen to fulfill the travel requirements. Many of them have been returned for insufficient funds or for not having invitations from their relatives in EU countries.

“They didn’t allow me because I had no guarantee. I was about to visit my uncle in Bari. He will send me the guarantee and we will go tomorrow. I have traveled other times without problems”, says another person who has been returned.

The authorities have also rejected families with children whose travel has been denied in the past.

The travelers are required to have official invitations from their hosts, 50 Euros for every day of stay, and the address of the ersidence.

Many people have been rejected for not having enough clothes in case of a several-day trip.
