The Shah Deniz Consortium of the oil field in Azerbaijan will decide
next month about the winning project that will transport the Caspian gas
in Europe.
The news was confirmed by the Trans Adriatic Pipeline Director, Kjetil Tungland, during an interview for the international magazine “Pipeline International”.
TAP is the only one that includes Albania in the international gas network. A few days ago the project received a formal confirmation from the European Commission, which is the last permission that opens way to its construction.
“We are very grateful to the European Commission. His signature means that we have all the documents and permits required for the next month”, Tugland declared.
The commercial director of this project, Lutc Landuer, declared that this makes TAP the main favorite for the gas transportation rights from the Caspian to Europe.
TAP is connected with the Transanatolian pipeline near the Greek-Turk border, and then goes through Greece, Albania and Southern Italy.
The Pipeline has three large shareholders: the Swiss Akspo, with 42.5%; the Nowregian Statoil with 42.5% and he German Eon Rurgas with 15%.
Its construction would significantly increase Albania’s geopolitical positions, and besides creating new jobs, it would supply gas for consumers.
