The former Albanian Prime Minister, and his Minister of Finances, Ridvan
Bode, have been officially warned that the state owned mines which have
been closed and under conservation were risking people’s lives.
Top Channel has two official documents through which the administrator of the public company Albminiera, Gjin Progni, informs the former Prime Minister Berisha and former Minister Bode that the government’s insufficient funds were making it impossible to guard the mines and preventing accidents.
In the first document that is sent to Mr.Berisha, Progni sees tells him about the deepest financial crisis of the company and writes that it is vital for the government to pay at least 28.3 million ALL within 2012, so that they don’t undermine the existence of Albminiera and to prevent the possibility of accidents in the mining resources.
On the same letter dated 30 November 2012, Progni asks the Prime Minister to close the mining works within the territories of these mines, saying that they have identified 306 interventions that were putting lives at risk.
Tow months later, after not receiving any solution, the Administrator of Albminera wrote to the Minister of Finances, Ridvan Bode, reiterating the same request, or the company would be unable to guard the mines.
Albminiera has 33 closed mines for conservation. Five young men died two days ago in Pogradec, while trying to take scrap material. A tragedy that the company had warned, since their funds were insufficient for guarding the mines.
