Tourism increased economy, Ahmetaj: “We aim to raise it to 3.8% in 2017”

The institution of statistics reported that the GDP increased with 3.08% during the third trimester, led mainly by tourism.

Hotels, restaurants and transportation grew the most, with 1.12%. Construction with 0.77%, financial and security activities with 0.42%, according to the INSTAT Director, Delina Ibrahimaj.

The final population consumption increased with 1.65%, while the fixed capital GDP, investments in economy, grew with 11.89%, according to Ibrahimaj.

INSTAT has reviewed the economic growth for the first two trimester of 2016 too, and according to them, this trimester was higher than expected. The economic growth for the first 9 monts of 2016 reached 3.27%, from 2.7% that it was in 2015.

This is the third year which has the economic growth getting better, after the 1% in 2013.

“These are not signs, but stable statistics that Albania has entered a positive economic cycle”, Ahmetaj added.
