The Commission of the Socialist Party for the Election of the Ombudsman candidacy declared Igli Totozani as winner.
The Socialist MP, Eglantina Gjermeni, declared that the main goal of this Commission was to elect a people’s advocate, and not a defender of the politics.
“As we had promised, this process brought an ombudsman, and not a political defender. Tomorrow he will be able to defend the people who are damaged by politics and institutions. Having our biggest consideration for the 12 candidacies that were publicly announced, the Commission declares that Ilir Totozani will be proposed to the Socialist Party as the new Ombudsman”, Gjermeni declared.
The head of the OSCE presence in Tirana, Eugen Wollfarth, declared that this is a key step for making this institution complete.
Wollfarth greeted the preparations of the Socialist Party for electing as Ombudsman the person that now has been made public.
