Bamir Topi gave the first strong signal of his return in active
politics. A few hours after handing over the office to Bujar Nishani,
the President that led the Albanian state for the last five years met
the founders of the New Democratic Spirit at a Tirana Bar.
Before sitting in front of the table, Topi was asked by the journalists:
“There will be people who are not engaged in politics. Is a very common meeting and I feel that I closed with honor a very important mission. Now I am again among my friends. This is a normal friendly meeting. Tomorrow will be a normal day. I will not go to office, but I have various engagements”, Topi declared.
The former Foreign Minister, Besnik Mustafaj, declared that Topi should be the head of the NDS.
“I am here as friend of Bamir Topi and as one of the many citizens of Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Presheva, who are convinced that Topi’s presidency was successful. Topi will increase this good name in the future and will put it to good use for Albania. It is not a mystery that Bamir Topi is one of the NDS founders and I hope that he will be the one to lead this political force. However, I am not his spokesperson”, Mustafaj declared.
Topi commented the speech held by his successor, Bujar Nishani, especially the part of Justice Reforms.
“He said a very righteous thing, and it is normal that the trust to the justice system should increase. As for the reforms, I have always said that the reforms are made in Parliament, since they are exclusively responsible for this”, Topi declared.
