More than 60 important figures of the Democratic Party who oppose
current leader Lulzim Basha have created and supported an official
movement, called Movement for the Recovery of the Democratic Party.
One of their main points is organizing new party elections within nine months, as they put in question Lulzim Basha’s legitimacy.
But is this platform real, and does it do any good to the Democratic Party? For this, analysts Alfred Lela, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Arjan Vasjari and Eduard Zaloshnja were invited to discuss on tonight’s Top Story.
Alfred Lela said that this movement will only prolong the crisis and fade opposition’s political actions, but the good news is that insults may now stop, and there will be concrete action from within. However, he predicts conflicts, not peace between these parties.
Arjan Vasjari thinks the opposite. He says that the only instrument that would pull the DP out of the current crisis, is this correct platform that puts to test the basic electors.
Gjekmarkaj confirms Vasjari’s stance, and says that Basha has two alternatives: choosing a totalitarian behavior, or accept a revote and become the true leader of the DP if he wins, with a process that is acceptable by everyone.
Eduard Zaloshnja referred to a poll held in 2013 to express his pessimism for the Movement for Recovery of the Democratic Party: “Only half of 700.000 voters coming from persecuted families voted the DP. The rest voted other parties or didn’t vote at all. We have half of a population category that doesn’t see itself represented by the DP. I don’t see this class represented at this fraction of the DP”, he declared.
