Since 1987, the waste produced by the towns of Kucova and Kozare has been dumped by the side of the Devoll River.

After the new territorial division, Lumasi and Perondia are now part of the same district, adding more waste, that of 56,000 residents and businesses, to the same river.

With the increased population, the field has turned into a real problem for residents who live under the bad smell and the dangerous gases that are released each day.

This has turned into an urgent problem that the Kucova Municipality is trying to avoid.

“We pressured the waste, in order to keep as much as we can from dumping on the existing field. We have discussed options to make a selection at the source. However, the problem is that we have a landfill for four municipalities. We will try to take non-biodegradable materials somewhere else”, said Selfo Kapllani, Mayor of Kucova.
