The initiative of the Tirana Municipality to build 17 new schools in the Albanian capital was chosen as one of the best project at the Summit of South-Eastern European Mayors, held in Sarajeva.
Mayor Veliaj said that the 17 new schools not only resolve for the first time the 30-year-old problem of children attending schools with double shifts, but the new ones will also be used as community centers to be used by students even in the afternoons, for sports and other activities.
Mayor Veliaj said that by serving as cultural epicenters, the schools will offer a new approach to the system, not only in infrastructure.
