The World Health Organization repeated its concern about Albania’s main
cities, especially Tirana, which have much higher air pollution then the
EU norms.

The study says that the air pollution level is three to four times higher than in the EU.

WHO expert, Mihal Krizanovski, declared that 500 people die each year in Albania due to pulmonary diseases.

WHO asked the Albanian institutions to take urgent measures for improving the air quality in Tirana and big cities, because there is an increase of illnesses, especially pulmonary cancer.

Different to other times, the government has admitted that the plan wasn’t implemented due to the politicization of this problem.

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Taulant Bino, admitted that this is not only for the cooperation with the local administration, but also for cooperation between ministries, such as the Ministry of Transports, Economy and Energetics.

In this meeting was present the Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, and the vice Mayor, Edmond Panariti.
