Tirana University against government’s draft

29/05/2014 00:00

After weeks of discussions with the academic staff, the Tirana
University Senate declared that the draft proposed by the government for
reforming the higher education system doesn’t fulfill the requests for a
complete reform of the higher education, while they value the
government’s initiative for such a reform and for consulting with the
interest groups.

“Based on the positions held by the faculties and student structures, the senate says that since the proposed draft doesn’t fulfill the requests for a complete reform of the higher education and scientific research, it should represent the propositions of interest groups. The senate demands that the same procedure followed in the first report should be implemented for the other phases, for the second report and for the draft law that will be prepared, so that the university structures can express their stances”, declared rector Dhori Kule.

The Higher Education commission will publish the details and recent modifications of the draft. In July, the report for the higher education reform will pass in parliament for approval.
