06/02/2014 00:00

The Vice Mayor of the Tirana Municipality, Enno Bozdo, asked the
government to react regarding the requests of the Municipality and not
increase the urban transportation ticket price, and help transportation
operators through subventions.

Bozdo emphasized the application of daily or three-day tickets, as in other European Union countries.

“Mayor Lulzim Basha addressed to the Minister of Transports with a letter, as regards the increase cost, and proposed this solution: subventions for service operatives, through grants that are conditioned by the local government. Changing the legislation for producing the transportation tickets in the electronic system, which would avoid abuses. Changing the ticket types, which is a very limited service, such as the daily or weekly tickets”, Bozdo declared.

Bus Tickets, Government: It will be a competence of the Municipality

The Ministry of Transportation declared that they will pass to local units the right to establish ticket prices.

The Ministry announced tat they are amending the law that will pass in Parliament next week.

The Ministry says that this decision is taken to respect the responsibilities of the local administration, and to respect their autonomy.

The government took this decision during an open debate with the local administration for increasing the bus ticket prices, which has been requested by the urban transportation operators.
