Presenting managers of units 3 and 4 of the new Tirana Municipality, Mayor Erion Veliaj repeated his call for people not to pollute public spaces in order to avoid heavy fines published only two days ago. Veliaj said he is determined to penalize any wrongdoers, who do not respect common spaces.

“There is no extra cost living in this city, except if you cut trees, throw garbage on the street, or use heave machineries and pollute the environment”, Veliaj said. He also requested units’ managers to report any cases of violations in the suburbs in order not to limit this action in the city center.

During this week alone, in unit 5, Municipality Police have issued 84 tickets for businesses occupying streets with tables, chairs, and vases etc., 43 other tickets were imposed to people damaging public property, while 45 tickets were issued for those putting posters illegally on the streets or other public spaces.
