In the last Parliamentary meeting of this session, the Tirana merchants
have protested and requested support from the MPs for not allowing the
closure of a produce market.
They say this decision will damage the local agricultural production, which used this market as destination.
The merchants protested in front of the Parliament, appealing the Prime Minister and the MPs to not close the market. They consider this decision as unfaur and collective. They say that farmers will not be able to sell their produce if the market will close, and will not be able to compete import.
Despite the numerous protests, they warned that others will follow. Merchants say that the argument used for the closure, which is hygiene, is just a pretext for covering the real reasons, which are the interests of high-rank officials who want to build businesses in that territory.
