This Tuesday, the “Mediterranea 18” biennale closed this year’s edition in Tirana.
Mayor Erion Veliaj visited some of the art displays, showing the best works of foreign artists. He underlined that it was a privilege for Tirana to have so many local artists in this biennale.
“It was a privilege and great pride that some of the curators were Albanians, and in some way they brought the house of the Mediterranean to their home. Many Albanians have left their home to find a second house as emigrants. Many others have left their homes in the west to go back to their old ones here. This is a topic that speaks to us all. Tirana is a very big house, with 1 million citizens. It has turned into a home for citizens from Tropoja, Tepelena, Saranda and Shkodra”, Veliaj said.
Although the biennale closed this Tuesday, Veliaj said that many of the works will keep being displayed until the end of the month.
Veliaj added that despite the political situation, the Tirana Municipality will focus on continuing the artistic life of the city.
