The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that every new building in
Tirana will take every measure to give full access to people with
special needs.
The Mayor said that for the first time, five Tirana kindergartens have a separate space for special needs, a project that is spreading in other kindergartens as well.
“For the first time the municipality stopped thinking about the next elections, but for the next generation. This is why during the first year we focused on the rehabilitation of kindergartens. For the first time, five Tirana kindergartens have spaces and teachers for special needs children, mainly for autistic children and the Down syndrome”, Veliaj said.
He added that they are working to create easier access to persons with special needs in existing buildings, while new ones are bound by law to guarantee full access.
