Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj: “Concessional loans will be available by Spring”

“Different from other years, soft loans will be based on
clear and transparent criteria, for people who really need them”, the
Mayor said.
“Home concessional loans will be implemented for the first time, only for the Tirana Municipality. The Ministry of Urban Development was forced to suspend the old project, since most of its beneficiaries were people who already had a home. There was corruption. They were either ministers, deputy ministers, National Guard officers involved with the January 21st killings, or political compensations to members of the Municipal Council or directors. This is not reasonable. That is why the Ministry interrupted it”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor added that the Tirana Municipality had paid off 60% of its debts and tripled revenues. He guaranteed that every citizen will be treated equally with the new soft loan program.
