The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has promised that the number of newly planted trees in Tirana will reach 100,000 on March 21st, on the International Forestation Day. 82,000 have been planted so far, 12,000 still to go.
At the conference for funding environmental products, after the territorial-administrative division, Veliaj said that their purpose is to surround Tirana by a Green ring which will also divide the rural area, limiting this way the city’s urbanization.
The Mayor said that 60% of the investments for Tirana come from private operators. As for the environment, Veliaj said the Tirana Municipality is encouraging clean transportation, with electric buses expected to start operating soon.
